Golf has become one of the most popular sports in the world, with people of all ages joining in on the fun and exciting game. The fact that you play it outside, and that everyone can take part, is probably what appeals to so many. For some golf might feel a bit difficult to master, or at least get the basics right. Perfect golf swings aren’t easy, but you can come a long way by simply practicing the basics.

The first part of the fundamental golf skills that you need is to get your stance in order. The setup, which it is called, is the basis for everything else. You tempo, swing, and aim, all depends on having the proper balance and stance. Your grip is also an important factor. Next on the list you need to work your swing plane. Many golfers have a hard time hitting the ball properly, usually hitting the ball on the top or hitting it two low. This is extremely important if you are to get any consistent precision in your shots.

Finally, you need to experiment with swing tempo. A common beginner mistake is to put all their power in to their shots, without having the correct basic stance and swing plane in order. Tempo will then ruin the two mentioned fundamentals even more, and you will end up with a shorter and completely un-precise shot. You have to use a tempo that matches your technique, so slow down your swing several notches to match you level of skills. You can then slowly hit harder as your stance and swing plane progress.

Beginner golf lessons are a great way to shorten your learning curve. A session with a pro golfer that also is a good teacher can probably spare you for tens, if not hundreds, of frustrating hours of practice on your own. They will be able to spot errors you make and give correcting advice that you simply won’t be able to get on your own.
