Sitting in my swing gives me plenty of time to think about all the possibilities of the different woods that my swing could be made out of. When I was deciding which to go with it came down to price and how much upkeep would it take.
I love sitting in my garden swing seat but not all the work it can take to keep it in nice condition. Also I like the feel of natural wood. For instance pine is nice but it will take a finish or it won’t last long especially in damp areas.
It came down to teak and oak. Oak can require a finish but it’s such a strong wood that it can go years without a lot of upkeep. A friend that owns a boat was telling me about the nicer boats he had been on were using teak flooring. You know if it’s on a boat then it’s going to get wet, so I sought out some teak and really enjoyed the feel.
Luckily there were all kinds of different models of teak swings so the selection was easy. I just looked for the best deal and free shipping. I found the perfect model and after a straight forward assembly.
The upkeep is minimal and the finish is beautiful.
