My teenage daughter got chicken pox. She got better but her skin was left with some dark pigmentation that no amount of make-up would cover. She suffered through embarrassment and developed insecurities that left her with her head hanging low in an attempt to stay invisible. My heart ached for her and we took countless trips to the doctor’s office and was referred to a dermatologist. They all told her the same thing. It will take time. Your skin isn’t the same as it was before puberty. It takes longer to heal and renew. To add salt to the wound, all the make-up she was using caused her to also break out in acne. Life was just hitting her hard and if you all remember being a teen, it is hard enough without worrying about how you look and then being told to just ride it out. I kept bringing home product after product when she just finally told me to give up. She had. One day, inspiration hit. I was applying my anti-aging cream on just before bed and I thought, “Why not this cream?” To heal and renew, the doctor’s said. That was what anti-aging creams did. I approached my daughter and asked her to give it a shot. Just one more time and if it did not work, then oh well. She agreed. I think she agreed just as a final desperate attempt. Well, that one more time was the only time she needed. Her face renewed and healed and to top it off, it cleared her acne too. My daughter walks with her head held high. the make-up is a thing of the past. One day, when she was about to go out with her friends, she looked at me with a huge smile. “No pox on me”, she said. I just smiled for the rest of the day.
