A new loft community fashioned from a former automobile factory is rising up on the south side of Chicago, developed by the company AtProperties. Packed loosely with thirty two spacious, customizable units, these lofts are bringing both very valuable property and new ideas to the real estate industry in the windy city. Called Kissel Kar Lofts, any of the 32 units will consist of either one or two bedrooms with ceilings that stretch as high as 17 feet. The ceilings will have beams, and the brick will show through the walls, but the trendy loft look isn’t the only one available. Kissel Kar Lofts offer three styles for buyers of the condos, one an Asian theme, another a more warm look, and the last a gritty, more traditional loft style. The loft building also includes a mezzanine level, made possible by the third story of the bulding’s high ceilings.
The lofts are very private, with the first floor containing only two amazingly spacious units which have theirown separate entrances. Rooms for things like exercise and internet and computer use will be added later on in the development, but already built are balconies and decks for each of the lofts. Five of these lofts have already been snatched up before the building ends, and there is a possible planned sales center for the fall of 2008.
