Best car security system

Posted by the author on August 11th, 2007

Ever since then, you see, I have used one of those clubs to lock up my car. It is not electronic, it doesn’t trigger an alarm, and it doesn’t involve flashing lights or blaring horns. It is, however, very effective. Basically, it takes a professional locksmith to beat that kind of car security – and it would take him quite a while. You can be confident that, even if someone breaks into your car, they won’t be able to drive it off. Best of all, car thieves don’t even try to steal a car if they see that you have a club. The best kind of auto security, after all, is the kind that makes thieves stay away.

Using a lemon car guide before you buy

Posted by the author on July 9th, 2007

In my case, my car went bad almost right away. Apparently, they had done just enough repairs to keep it running for a month or so. After that, one thing after another started going wrong. Within a couple weeks of my first equipment failure, I knew that I had been had. I cursed myself for being so trusting of them and for not taking it to a mechanic. Nonetheless, it was definitely a learning experience.

The automobile lemon law is inconsistent

Posted by the author on July 9th, 2007

My neighbor called me and told me how frustrating all of this was. I pointed out that the ironic thing about it was that the car was mostly manufactured in a state other than Minnesota or Florida. The automobile lemon law was protecting the manufacturer and their substandard vehicle, rather than the consumer that was out thousands of dollars and did not have a car that was reliable. After months of phone calls, letters and hours in the shop the dealerships in Florida and Minnesota finally came to an agreement and our neighbors received a different car. They had a good outcome, but most of their winter was spent trying to get reliable transportation for their drive back to Minnesota. It would make sense to me to have the automobile lemon laws be consistent in all the states since we are such a mobile society and since the majority of the vehicles are made in only a few states to begin with.

Turn Off Your Airbag

Posted by the author on July 2nd, 2007

over the past 10 years the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Louisville and the Kentucky medical Examiner’s Office have been conducting an on-going study of injuries associated with air bag deployment. These injuries can be severe including amputation of fingers, hands and forearms, pulverized compound fractures of the forearms and fractures of the upper arms and even lead to death. The matter of most concern is that these injuries happen due to the airbag itself no matter what the speed of the car is.

New regulations require airbag testing with children and small adults, By the deadline, 2012, auto manufacturers say they will have in place airbags that are controlled by load cells that sense the size and position of car occupants. The fact is that the protection airbags offer come with a huge risk. Until then if you or one of your passengers is in one of these at-risk groups you might consider turning your airbag off.

Safer Air Bag Design

Posted by the author on July 2nd, 2007

A system of load cells that detect the weight and position of the passenger will be utilized in new tests for airbag safety. Previously tests for airbag safety assumed a 6 foot male, ignoring the special dangers this created for smaller women and children. In response to new standards set by NHTSA, new tests will include children in the front seat and small adults, as drivers and front-seat passengers.

Diesel Engines Get Big Improvements From Load Cell Technology

Posted by the author on June 25th, 2007

Hopefully diesel fuel will be able to reduce the nation’s oil consumption as clean diesel vehicles are 20 to 40 percent more fuel-efficient and emit 10 to 20 percent less greenhouse gas than their gasoline counterparts. The challenge is that new legislation has set extremely low emission targets for future diesel engines. One way this challenge is being met is with specialized load cell technology used in the Siemens’ Glow Plug Integrated Pressure Sensor.

Posted by the author on June 24th, 2007

The next best way to find the cheapest car insurance is to do some searching online. Check the used car reviews

Posted by the author on June 18th, 2007

If you do decide to purchase a vehicle from a private party it is a good idea to take it to a mechanic and have them check it over. There is a minimal fee for this service, but if the mechanic finds something major wrong with the vehicle it will save you money. Also ask the owner if they have the maintenance records for the vehicle. It is important that routine maintenance has been done because this will increase the life of the vehicle. Used car shopping is not an easy venture, but the more time and effort you put into insure that a pre-owned vehicle is not a lemon the less money you will need to stick into it in the future. If you are in the market for a newer model vehicle without the new sticker shocker, program cars are a good option. These are vehicles that have been used as rentals. They usually have few miles on them and are loaded with special equipment.

High performance tires will keep you on the road

Posted by the author on June 18th, 2007

Then, winter hit. It was an unusually bad winter and I was slipping and sliding all over the road just like everyone else was. One day, however, I had a near catastrophe. I slid literally right off the road into a ditch. If it had happened a moment later, I would have been hit by a big rig. Needless to say, I would have been killed instantly.

When my friend heard about the accident, he again admonished me to get all season high performance tires. He told me that high performance tires were not just for people who like to go fast, or peal around curves. High performance all terrain tires were good because they had an improved ability to grip the road. If you live in a place like Michigan – which is where I live – you need the best high performance tires just stay on the road in winter.

Car parts and accessories to customize your ride

Posted by the author on June 18th, 2007

My favorite thing to do, however, is to customize my car. It doesn’t really matter what kind of customization I am doing. I am in it more for the thrill of building something than for the actual results. I have put in car lift kits, I have low rided cars, I have added hydraulics, and I have taken hydraulics away. I have made cars into racers, and I have made cars into cruisers. I have done everything with after market car parts and accessories that you can do. In short, I am completely hooked.

Antique car sales

Posted by the author on June 18th, 2007

When we arrived at the reunion we were given name tags and a copy of the booklet updating us on our classmates. There were a few people we were very interested in looking up. We found a nice place at the end of the bar where we could watch people come in and see who we could recognize. One very distinguished man walked in dressed in a very nice suit. We assumed he was the spouse of one of our classmates. We could not read his name tag from where we were sitting and as time passed it was obvious that he was alone. We asked another person who it was. He said that it was one of our classmates. He had been very quiet in school and always covered in grease. He had gotten into antique car sales after high school and was very successful. He was always covered in grease because he loved working on cars. I knew that he had become a mechanic but I did not know that he had anything to do with antique car sales. As the evening went on I had the opportunity to talk with him. He said that his grandfather had owned several antique cars. He had taken special courses to learn how to work on them. He then started fixing up other people’s older cars and then selling them. This mushroomed into one of the largest antique car sales in the state. He has never married and spends a great deal of time traveling looking for antique cars. He was the biggest surprise of anyone at the reunion.

Auto Shows Are The Best Places To Book The Latest Vehicles At Discount Prices!

Posted by the author on June 11th, 2007

Another attractive aspect of auto shows is the fact that a lot of stunt car drivers make their pilgrimage here. It is almost a not to be missed holy journey for these battle hardened drivers. And the automobile manufacturers spare no opportunity to exploit their need for speed. In most auto shows, you can find events dedicated to testing the limits of man and machine. And the stunt car drivers also take the opportunity to test drive the fastest vehicles, make the most breathtaking turns, achieve the maximum number of spins and in general indulge in all sorts of death defying activities that is enough to make the blood of ordinary mortals like you and me congeal in our veins. I love going to auto shows just to see these people in action. Recently I went to Rijschool in Utrecht. At a more mundane level, auto shows are also good places to book the latest vehicles at discount prices. Generally, the more revolutionary the car model, the bigger the discounts offered. This is because, like any other trade fair, auto shows are the test ground for manufacturers to test the popularity of their vehicles. And in doing so, they sell a number of vehicles at discounted prices in order to get the cars out on the roads fast.

All season tires not the answer for harsh winters

Posted by the author on June 11th, 2007

I don’t live in Buffalo though, but I am only a few hours away. We don’t get the same snow amounts that they do, but we do get some. For the most part, the all season tires we use are just fine, but there are times when we have to stay home due to the amount of snow. Though the all season tires might be fine, I know I am not the only person on the roads. Not everyone is as cautious as I am. There are some who are entirely too bold in the snow, and those are the ones I am worried about.
