Celebrating Easter Sunday as Children

Posted by the author on March 9th, 2010

Celebrating Easter Sunday as Children was always an important tradition as I was growing my in our family. In many families, unless religious prohibits, Easter Sunday is one of those holidays that come and go without much celebration in some households. Some households might have a Easter egg hunt and fill their gift basket with an chocolate Easter bunnies along with treats, but that was about it.

However, my parents turned Easter bunnies into a religion. Back when we used to be children, our parents actually would always dress as Easter bunnies. We were smart kids – we all knew it was them in costumes, but we all loved how they were playing make believe it was the real thing. We all even loved that they would give us chocolate Easter bunnies every time they were in costumes!

My parents will really set up the entire event – the Easter eggs hunt, the arrangements, the meal – dressed-up as Easter bunnies. To a lot of people, this could seem a little bit strange, yet to us kids, it was about the most delightful celebration you could imagine. Seeing your mom and dad transform into large, fluffy, gift giving baskets, hug giving bunny rabbits is one thing in which any children would enjoy!

South Africa Car Rentals

Travel South Africa’s beaches with South Africa car rentals for a special holiday experience. The country has rugged wild coasts and glamorous city beaches among a variety of other coastal attractions. The Western Cape beaches are nothing short of mind-blowing. The province has coastlines on both the Indian and Atlantic Oceans and is recognized its for whale watching. South Africa car rentals make it easy to get from place to place, and the West Coast is a fantastic place to start.

The West Coast is picturesque and natural with small fishing towns being the centres of civilisation. The wildlife, indigenous vegetation and mountains are remarkable, particularly in spring when the wildflowers bloom.

Cape Town’s Atlantic Seaboard is a stunning collection of white beaches, aqua coloured waters and magnificent mountain scenery. The beaches are “the place to be seen” and are very well patronised.

The glorious Cape Overberg Coast is legendary for its incredible whale watching opportunities from June to December, when whales journey to the warm waters to mate and calve. The town of Hermanus has a 12km cliff path overlooking the sea, wonderful for an aerial view of the whales below. The magnificent Garden Route is a highly recommended self-drive, especially if you hire car Cape Town Airport. The road runs between coast and mountain with amazing views and verdant plant life.

The Eastern Cape is an emerging province. Some of its coast is remote while other expanses are filled with the vacation homes of the well-heeled.

The Sunshine Coast enjoys a mild climate ideal for daily watersports. In fact, Port Elizabeth is unofficially the watersports centre of South Africa. Enormous sand dunes make lovely picnic sites; and estuaries and lagoons are brilliant for boating and birding.

South Africa’s beaches are diverse and captivating; a perfect recipe for an epic holiday. Try South Africa car rentals for creating your unique holiday experience.

Creating a Kids Easter Baskets without Much Candy

Posted by the author on March 2nd, 2010

Every year we observe Easter, although I worry about creating a kids Easter baskets without much candy for my daughter. Even if I only buy her one, I know that my mother will probably buy her one as well, and I have to tell her just what type I want her to purchase, so she does not pack the whole basket with candy. I allow my daughter to enjoy a little bit of candy, but there is a limit. The majority of the candy she gets will end up in the garbage; therefore there is no sense in buying a lot while something more important may be a great deal more practical.

The issue I worry is having the kids Easter baskets would be the candy. Candy is great, we all believe that, yet we also realize that you don’t have to keep a good deal of it around. It’s not only unhealthy calories, a lot of children become hyper whenever given a lot of sweets, and one particular kids is mine. Once I go out to purchase her Easter baskets, I made sure I know what is in it, and exactly what I can get rid of, just before I present it to her. Some years we’ve had to construct my very own simply because I have not found anything that wasn’t full of candy.

A year ago, I filled up a large basket for my little girl. I put in a chocolate bunny for her mainly because I believe no basket is finished without having one. I also got her a handful of jelly beans, but that is just about all of the candy which I added. Plus I got some sidewalk chalk, a kite, bubbles, plus some sidewalk paint. We then included some sandals plus some sunglasses, and also a inflate toy for the summer season. She was happy with everything that she got, and also she made great use from every single item. If you want to create children’s Easter baskets with not as much candy, you should utilize the same products. They are certain to be hits.

Easter Activities for the Kids

Posted by the author on February 22nd, 2010

One of the most fun activities for young children has always been the Easter Egg hunt. It doesn’t matter if there’s a prize involved, although kids always love prizes, the real excitement is in the searching, checking all the old hiding places and looking for the new ones.

The other favorite activity you can count on is coloring eggs. And of course, with all the newer methods there are to decorate or dye eggs, there’s lots of room to get creative. Certain cultures have rich traditions of decorating eggs with paint, wax or other products. Some even carve the shells! But even basic dyed eggs will bring happiness sitting on the table (or hidden by a tree).

Easter Basket making is another fun pastime. Take some different colored cardboard, red, pink, blue, yellow, etc. and cut it into long strips. Then using sticky tape or safety glue, instruct the kids to weave the it together to create a simple Easter basket shape.

2010 Halloween Costume and More

Posted by the author on February 17th, 2010

When it comes to Halloween and costumes, there are two catagories. The one category consists of the classical costumes such as the queens and the princesses, the mermaids and the fairies, and so on and on. Those are costumes that have been popular for ages and will most likely continue to be popular for many more years.

The second category consists of costumes which are in vogue during a particular year and than their popularity subsides. Interest for those costumes has been stirred by a movie that has been newly released or a major event such as the Mardi Gras Carnival, the death of a famous personality, the election of a new president, etc.

Go to HalloweenCostumes2010.org and browse through both catagories.

Christmas Gift for a Teenager

Posted by the author on February 15th, 2010

Often times people will ask me what’s a good Christmas gift for a teenager. Even though I have two teenagers, the issue is I don’t want to be responsible for the gifts that they decide to get their teens. After all, there are a million and one Christmas gift ideas and besides there are no two teens who are alike. Christmas gifts for teenagers will change with time and it’s best if you talk to your teen and try and get them to give you a few ideas on what they would like for Christmas. Normally, most teens will be straight forward with what they want as a gift.

On the other hand, you will not be able to discuss a Christmas gift for your teenager if you are planning on surprising them on Christmas day. The surprise can really be exciting and I recommend it if you can make it happen. If you can surprise them on Christmas day with something that they have always wanted, then I think you both will be quite happy when they open the gift. I guess the trick is to find the ideal surprise Christmas gift for a teen. For guys, it might be something special for their cell phone or mp3 player. For gals, it could be a special piece of jewelry that they have never had. I think at the end you will probably need to try and somehow get your teen to give you some ideas to help you find that perfect gift.

Cape Town Car Hire

Posted by the author on February 9th, 2010

Cape Town car hire is a great choice of transport for travelling Cape Town and surrounds. The Cape is renowned for its vineyards, and meandering along a wine route is a really enjoyable experience, both for wine connoisseurs and teetotallers. Many wine estates now have hotels, spas, restaurants, live music and other activities for guests to enjoy. Renting a car is by far the easiest and most reasonable way to tour the wine routes.
Constantia Uitsig is a grand old dame of the Constantia Valley, a vineyard that has stood the test of time. The cellar produces sought-after wines, and the estate has developed a hotel, a spa and three restaurants for guests to enjoy. La Colombe is particularly well known. On-site attractions include: Constantia Uitsig Hotel (16 garden rooms), Constantia Uitsig Spa (treatments and therapies), La Colombe Restaurant (internationally recognised restaurant overseen by chef Luke Dale-Roberts), Constantia Uitsig Restaurant or enjoy a light snack at The River Café and you have to pop into the Wine Shop on your way out.
Groot Constantia is a well known and highly respected cellar that produces premium wines. The lovely estate dates back to 1685 when it was first established as a vineyard. Groot Constantia is a place of much fascinating history, but has “changed with the times” to become the charming estate it is today. Cellar tours take place every hour from 10am to 4pm.
The Constantia wine estates could collectively be termed the “Mother” of the wine industry in the Cape. Vineyards were planted and cultivated in Constantia in the late 1600s and the area has been producing wine ever since. The valley oozes history and heritage and is an upmarket, beautiful place to visit. Buitenverwachting means “beyond expectations”, and this is exactly the type of wine the estate produces. Buitenverwachting is one of the original Constantia wine farms and today creates a range of wonderful wines. The estate restaurant is also superb.
On-site attractions: Buitenverwachting Restaurant (one of the Cape’s finest restaurants), enjoy a picnic in the gardens (picnics are made up on-site and must be pre-booked) and the Vineyard picnics (arrange with Groot Constantia at least 24 hours in advance)
Cape Town car hire is the best idea for a relaxed tour of the Cape Wine Route.

All Inclusive Honeymoons

Posted by the author on January 26th, 2010

The honeymoon, while traditionally revolving around a beach holiday is becoming more adventurous and elaborate- especially when it is combined with a destination wedding. Exotic locations, elaborate stagins, once-in-a-lifetime settings. Destination weddings and all inclusive honeymoons will be talked about for many years(or generations) to come.

Try to choose a place where you would probably never visit if you were not on your honeymoon. If ultimate solitude is your goal try to pick someplace where there is little chance of encountering somebody you know. You really don’t want to share your honeymoon with friends or relatives.

The typical all inclusive honeymoon package includes airfare, hotel accommodations, food, and alcoholic drinks. Planning a tropical vacation is not easy. All inclusive destination honeymoons save you from having to pay for anything additional while you are at the resort. The advantage of this is in knowing exactly how much your honeymoon is going to cost even before you leave home.
