Online anger management therapy

Posted by the author on January 25th, 2010

It’s pretty simple, controlling anger is considered anger management. The first step to controlling anger issues it to admit there is a problem. Some people have major anger issues but can’t see them or deny the issues even exist.

Usually something happens to set a person off and make them angry. People who have problems admitting to their anger and accepting responsibility for their actions often blame others for their problems. All of these people could use online anger management tools.

They have difficulty seeing any part of the situation as their fault. There is always something or someone to blame for their anger. Their fits of anger and temper tantrums are always blamed on something else.

Anger management programs offer the individual plenty of information regarding techniques and strategies for dealing with anger. Is there anger management therapy available for those who feel the need to take their treatment a step further?

In the early 1970’s, a psychiatrist named Aaron T. Beck, M.D, developed an anger management therapy focusing on problem-solving. This therapy initially called Cognitive Therapy is now also known as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy or CBT. Beck worked with patients for years using his psychiatric knowledge but was burdened to see his patient’s treatment making only slow progress. Beck wanted to use a more intense approach to anger management therapy.

Cognitive Therapy is a form of anger management therapy which helps a person to correct or change specific details in their thinking. These details, involving negative feelings, will likely lead to anger and cause behavioral problems. Beck realized that it is during the thinking process, negative thoughts are formed which lead to changes in emotions and behavior.

Quit Smoking Now for the Benefits of Quitting Smoking

Posted by the author on January 20th, 2010

Can acupuncture help you to quit smoking now? Many people have been helped with acupuncture quit smoking in a few days. Read more to learn how acupuncture can help you quit smoking now.

Are you a smoker? Maybe you started at a very young age and it continued on and on. Now you’re in your 40s or 50s, but can’t seem to kick the habit. Well, this because it is so addictive. You can blame it all on the nicotine, which enters your bloodstream and makes you crave more. It is basically a never-ending process that goes on and on. Millions of men and women alike strive to kick their smoking addiction every year, but fail miserably. In this day and age with all the science and medical knowledge we have, everyone is currently aware of how harmful smoking can be. Well, if you’ve tried all the rest, maybe it’s time you checked out acupuncture to quit smoking.

The benefits of quitting smoking are pretty intuitive, but the American Cancer Society would like you to be aware of just how many benefits there are. And while scientific research technically can’t prove that smoking causes cancer and overall bad health, everybody knows that it’s true because it’s a matter of common sense and more than just mere coincidence that smoking is strongly associated with developing cancer. But even if we know that it’s better to quit smoking, that doesn’t mean that it’s so easy to.

The reason it’s so hard to quit smoking is because of the addictive properties of nicotine. People can develop a physical or a psychological addiction to a drug, and with tobacco, they find themselves craving nicotine and developing an emotional dependence on it.

At first, smoking gives people a high as the brain responds to the nicotine, but over time the body becomes accustomed to it and it needs higher and higher levels to achieve the same high that it used to at a lower level. They may also experience negative effects of withdrawal like headaches, shaking and insomnia, so smokers start to increase the amount that they smoke and it eventually becomes an addiction.

Managing Your Childs Anger – Anger Management for Children

Posted by the author on January 20th, 2010

Anger management for children can be tough. Kids are not normally forthcoming in sharing feelings and emotions. A kid may have feelings of anger, pain or guilt but you would never know it from talking with them.

A child’s feelings are usually displayed in their behavior. When a child is sad they may keep to themselves or have little to say. When a child feels guilty they may avoid people and stay in their room. When a child is angry they may break their toys, scream or throw a tantrum. Children don’t always talk about their emotions but their actions should give you some clues.

When kids show signs of anger, bursting into fits or rage and rolling around the floor in tantrums, there’s a problem. This behavior should ell you that this child needs help. Left untreated, this problem could evolve into tons of difficulty in the future. It’s easier to do anger management for kids when they are young instead of waiting until they are older.

Most of us recognize the continuing escalation of violence around us, due to intolerance, and many of us blame it on somebody else. Parents teach their children, all the time, and when one of us displays “road rage, while our child is in the car, we teach a brand new skill set.

Although, road rage is inappropriate behavior, at any time, and can get you killed, most children who are exposed to it, will duplicate the actions of their parents, when they are old enough to drive. Understand that the example you set is critical to managing your childs anger.

So the first step, is to set an example and, possibly, use someof these ideas, for yourself. Studies show that anger causes atherosclerosis, the build-up of plaques in the arteries, that is a major factor in developing high blood pressure, heartdisease, heart attack, and premature death.

Having trust in relationships

Posted by the author on January 3rd, 2010

When you first meet a person, you probably tend to give that person the benefit of the doubt, expecting that they will treat you in an ethical and trustworthy manner. However, the proof is in the pudding, as the relationship becomes established. Trusting people may easily be taken advantage of by people who are inherently undeserving of trust. When a trusting person realizes that another is not bound by ethics, the trust in relationships with that individual is damaged, sometimes irrevocably.

Mistrust from the get-go
On the other hand, there are people who approach every relationship with mistrust. Such people require that, upon establishing any type of relationship, the other person must first prove them selves honorable before any trust is conferred. For example, consider the case of an employer, who has been burned by untrustworthy or unethical employees too many times. This employer, upon hiring a replacement, might appear to be gruff and demanding, watching your every move with suspicion. Here, your best bet is to work on establishing trust in relationship to your boss. If you conduct yourself ethically and honestly, to the best of your ability, sooner or later you will win his trust. If you fail to do this, you might well be looking for a new job.

Mind Power Memory Exercises

Posted by the author on December 30th, 2009

Controlling your subconcious mind is not as hard as you might think. I don’t think you even have to believe your mind can use it’s mental power to bring you anything you want. Mind power is something you always have.

Ever since I was a kid and started reading about metaphysics and how and what you can use your mind for, it was always told as ‘If you don’t believe your mind can do this thing, then it can’t.’

Like the subconscious mind does, I tend to take things literally when I read them. I took it to mean if you didn’t believe your mind could do anything it couldn’t do anything. In other words if you didn’t believe your mind had the power to do it, you could never do it.

If you didn’t believe your mind could help you lose weight then you wouldn’t lose weight. I applied my thinking about astral projection and the more mystical aspects of metaphysics to more normal topics of the mind, too.

I have always been jealous of people with really good memories. My best friend has an amazing memory. I find it infuriating from time to time. He can remember practically everything I have said my whole life, and can remind me of some rather ridiculous statements but I have made over the years. I have always had a rather poor memory by contrast. I remember bs and pieces of this and that, but I can’t organize facts in a useful way. That is why I finally decided to get together and try out some memory exercises.

I was amazed when I first saw how many exercises to improve short term memory exist. There are plenty of memory exercises for basically any skill. There are games to improve visual memory, pattern recognion, memory for faces and names. As a matter of fact, when I first looked into improving my memory, I was momentarily overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices and activies. I couldn’t figure out where to start.

Anger management courses and classes

Learning to control anger is a huge task for some individuals. Wanting to and being able to do it are two entirely different things. A person with anger issues may be committed to making changes in their behavioral patterns in the heart and mind but without setting these intentions in motion, there won’t be any positive results.

People like this require encouragement and support. They need to realize that they are not unique in their problem but in fact there are thousands more just like them. Singling out an individual with anger management issues is not a good move. However encouraging them and letting them know they are not alone in this fight may make a difference in their decision to seek help.

Aanger management courses may be suggested to an individual seeking help for their problem. These courses are designed to help people, in a group setting, to learn about anger management. These courses may take a day and sometimes anger management courses are turned into a retreat. Throughout these courses, people are taught useful lessons in anger management such as techniques and strategies for controlling their anger.

Many people with anger issues try the best to ignore them. By neglecting to talk about it or sweeping it under the rug some individuals assume their problem will disappear. Families don’t function very well living with a person who has problems with controlling their temper. Fathers, mothers, even children can disrupt the entire household due to uncontrollable fits of rage.

Keeping it a secret is the key to dealing with it for some people. Denying the problem and refusing to deal with the anger issue solves absolutely nothing. In fact if you ignore the anger problem for too long, it can eventually become violent or deadly.

It is definitely better to accept there’s a problem and set out to find the solution. Some may choose a one on one counseling session with a counselor or psychiatrist. Others may feel comfortable in a small support group.

What about anger management classes? This might be an option a person with serious behavioral problems may consider. Anger management classes, overseen by a professional in the field of anger management,
