Kids Culinary Programs

Posted by the author on January 30th, 2010

If you have a small child that loves to cook, it may be time to send them off at a Culinary Arts Program for Kids. There are hundreds of them across the country. They will spend their time learning about food preparation, combining flavors, and making their own tasty dishes. If you want to start them off at home, here are two simple recipes that even little kids can make with a little parental supervision.

- Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are kid favorites, but how often do you let them put this concoction together themselves? Let them use a butter knife (the round-tipped variety) to dig in to the peanut butter jar and spread it on the bread. Give them a spoon for the jelly – showing them that separate utensils are used for each ingredient – and let them create the sandwich. Believe me, they’ll enjoy eating it more than usual.

- Toddlers love smoothies! You prepare the fruits requiring a knife, such as strawberries. Let them wash the fruit under running water in a colander. Let them mash up a banana in a bowl. Let them measure out juice or yogurt. Then, let the child pour it all into the blender cup. You fasten the lid, place it on the blender. They press the blender button. This most satisfying of recipes for toddlers becomes magic, performed by their own hands. Measure ice cream scoops and milk for a milkshake, or ice cream for a root beer float, letting them pour the root beer.

Renew Your Grill With Gas Grill Parts

Posted by the author on January 28th, 2010

Spring is right around the corner and that means that summer will be here before you know it. And we all know what that means. It’s grilling season again!

Time to roll out that gas grill and get it ready for some awesome grilling. To make sure everything is in working order I make sure that everything is in proper working order.

Gas grill parts can become worn with time and use, so sometimes you need to make a couple little replacements. I have a Uniflame grill, so I prefer to use only uniflame gas grill parts.

Parts for most major brands of gas powered grills are actually rather easy to get and easy to install. Don’t let a cracked hose or a stripped screw ruin your fun and festive BBQ.

Living large in small spaces

Posted by the author on January 21st, 2010

Many of us live in small apartments in the city, mainly because of economy or while we are studying, it is the price we pay to live in the middle of everything. But living in small spaces does not have to be claustrophobic as many may think. There are some simple tricks to make any living space feel a lot larger and there are also many interior tricks to save place, for example for storage.

Number one trick is to use bright colors such as white and beige as much as you can, especially on the walls and larger furniture. To avoid the institutionalized feeling of white, break up with smaller colorful details, such as pillows, paintings on the wall & plants. Also a good idea is to use mirrors as this will instantly give the impression of a larger room than it actually is. For example put a large mirror in a tiny doorway corridor to make the room feel double the size.

In a small apartment you may not have too much floor space and you want to keep as much of it free as you can. But the domestic goddess has advice for you! Make your own bookshelves and mount them below the ceiling. If you have a dining table, buy some foldable chairs that you can store away, for example behind a door, when not in use. Take advantage of all hidden storage places you can think of, buy big boxes that can fit under your bed. You can hide a lot under there and no one will know!

f you’re looking for some quick hamburger recipes for the grill here’s a very simple yet tasty recipe you can use as your ace in the hole when you have company but need something easy to make.

As luck would have it this burger recipe for the grill is so simple you can have your guests help and have some fun at the same time. It’s pretty much a no fuss, no muss grill recipe and it’s so simple anyone can make it to perfection.

All it takes is about 1/2 pound of ground beef per person, 1 medium potato and some chopped onion. Oh yeah, and some tin foil. This is so quick that you need to start the grill before you mess with the hamburger and potatoes.

Tear off a piece of aluminum foil about 15 inches long or so. Lay it on the counter so it’s flat. No, it doesn’t make any difference which side is up as there’s no truth to the myth that things cook faster with the dull side out.

BBQ Rotisserie Cooking

Posted by the author on January 16th, 2010

There used to be a time that BBQ Rotisserie cooking was saved for the summer months as people regularly entertained both family and friends. I used to look for any reason to light the BBQ and have my mouth water as the smell of either the bbq chicken or beef was slowly cooking and besides I knew by cooking outside this would instantly give me a night off making meals.

But today there is nothing nicer than being able to cook all year around, all it takes is a little bit of planning to put the BBQ grill under cover and to make sure that it won’t smoke you out. Cooking outdoors added advantage there is little to no mess when you go to clean up.

Have you ever noticed when the male of your household proudly nominates himself to cook the BBQ tonight it is really you that does all the background work? I cook the side dishes and prepare lip smacking marinades for the rotisserie, set the table, bring the drinks out and look after the guests….and he turns the meat and claims to have done the cooking!

If you are in the market for a new set of cookware, then chances are you are contemplating the different places that you can look as well as trying to make sure that you can get the best deal and value for your money. When selecting the right cookware set price is always a major consideration. Other than the price though, picking out the perfect cookware set is a lot more involved than just making sure that they have the right color and cool glass lids that you can look through. If you are a person who is serious about their cooking, or if you simply want to get the best value for your money, you will need to use some practicality in your decision-making.

The main factor in choosing cookware is the material from which it is made. One of the best materials for conducting heat is copper, but it is pretty expensive. Good heat conduction allows for evenly cooked food. I am quite sure that you will find many different stainless steel cookware sets equipped with copper cladding on the bottom. The problem with this type of cookware is that the bottom of the food will cook faster than the rest, making it very difficult to avoiding burning and/or scorching your food. You won’t have very much luck braising your food with a copper reinforced pan.

How am I supposed to make a real meal? Even experienced cooks have problems with such tasks as making sauces from scratch. Here we have some cooking tips for making the most of your time in the kitchen, with delicious results. These cooking tips will also help you save money on your food budget.

1.Outfitting your kitchen: choosing the right cookware and the most useful gadgets and utensils is a good starting point. Reviewing the George Foreman Grill Range

Posted by the author on December 23rd, 2009

Here is an excerpt from our George Foreman Grill Review. Read the full post by visiting our website.

The great thing about the George Foreman BBQ Grill, however, is that you can start grilling whether you are indoors or outdoors. The electric grill features a 17.5 diameter surface, so you can put big steaks for family gatherings there. You can prop the grill upon its pedestal if you are cooking outdoors, so you still get that authentic barbecue despite the grill being an electric one. When you decide to bring the grill indoors, you can detach it from the pedestal, and you can place it on your countertop or just about any indoor surface.

Because you are dealing with electric heat, you do not have to worry about preparing the charcoals prior to cooking. We all know how hard it can be to prepare the charcoals before grilling, because you have to make sure that you have the right temperature for your meat. The great thing about the grill is that you can adjust the temperature with the turn of a knob, so you can get that perfect result every time. The combination of the vented lid and high dome allows for even cooking; this means that you will still get great results even if you are cooking larger steaks…

Offering great value is the George Foreman Rotisserie Grill, which is a bundle of the famous George Foreman Jumbo Grill and the Baby George Rotisserie. If you have always been interested in the series, but you want more value for your money, then this set is for you. These two cooking devices would be a welcome addition to your kitchen; you would have an easier time preparing meals because of these. Not only that, these take the guesswork out of complicated meals. This means you can prepare those party-worthy meals without spending the entire day in the kitchen. This bundled special is something that could change the way you eat at home.

The grill boasts of a nonstick grilling surface, so there is no need for you to add oil to prevent sticking. This is good news if you are watching your weight, as you can do without the fattening add-ons. What happens is that the meat cooks in its own juices, so you can look forward to tastier steaks and burgers. The grill also features a sloped surface, so excess fat runs off the meat. A plastic tray, which is safe to put in the dishwasher, catches the oil that drips off from the grill…

Ground beef meatloaf recipes

If you already have a few ground hamburger recipes I can give you two tips, right now, maybe three, to make them better.

This is one of the quickest and easiest ground beef meatloaf recipes I know of. No, it’s not a meatloaf recipe made with Lipton onion soup either. It’s a bit more work than that and has a better taste. I’ve been cooking with ground beef (it’s hamburger where I come from) all of my life and most recipes I have in my head I know who taught me to make them. This meatloaf recipe is different and I have no clue where I learned to make it.

For this meatloaf recipe you need to pay a little attention to the details. It will taste okay if you don’t but it will be better if you get the onion chopped really fine and the crackers crushed up fine, too. No big chunks of onion or crackers in this ground beef. It’s still one of the simpler recipes tho.

Before you start doing anything set the oven to 350 degrees and let it warm up while you are putting the ingredients for the meatloaf together.

What you need to make the meatloaf.
