I loved the feeling of the bass thumping in my body, making the whole world shake and rock. One of my friends had a killer car audio sound system, and we would cruise around the neighborhood, making the windows shake. He claimed that it was a good system, and at the time I believed him. Having subwoofer speakers that made the whole house shake was the perfect sign of a killer sound system. Ideas like sound fidelity, clarity, or even preservation of my hearing didn’t enter into it. It was all about feeling the music blasting through the subwoofer speakers.
