I have to admit that spending around $75 for a flashlight is a little much for just about anyone. And I am no exception. Before spending serious money as I did on this led lenser p7, the most I ever spent for a light was less than half the price of this one. Though it is one serious amount of money to be sure, in my opinion it has not disappointed me in the least, and, I have quickly come to feel it is well worth every penny.

The led Lenser p7 is simply put the best overall quality flashlight I have ever held. At just over 5 inches, it is compact enough to fit in a pocket or backpack, and yet the body of it feels as solid as they come. There are three levels of light output on this unit. Depress the rear button lightly and the Coast comes on instantly to full power. And let me tell you, at full power this baby is open for business. The led lenser employs some form of technology that makes its LED output perform far more efficiently to achieve a eye blinding 192 lumen output. People are constantly amazed when I take it out at night and demonstrate it for them.

In fact they all want one for themselves. (Until I tell them the price..:D). To maintain full 100% power you have to keep your finger depressed constantly without clicking it. Something at first that I was a little put off by, but have quickly come to feel is the perfect system. I do a lot of walking at night in some pretty dark places. The Coast is so light and compact I carry it right in my hand and whip it up instantly when encountering a dark area or hear a noise somewhere. The full power brightness instantly is perfect in my opinion. Very often I just hold it down for 10 or 15 seconds when I check out a dark area and then release it.

Clicking the button once sets the light to low, (approximately 40% power). Clicking it twice sets it to high, (75% of full power). In most cases the low power setting is all you should ever need. And the high power will give you sufficient light for just about any darkness or distance. And of course the full power setting with constant pressure is always there if you need it. Believe me when I tell you that one gets used to this system very quickly and finds it very convenient. And despite some other reviewers here that have spoken a little negatively on the rear button location, I happen to prefer it. I have never ran into a button or switch on the body of a flashlight that I found perfectly suitable and convenient. The rear location is perfect in my opinion.

As far as value for money goes the cordless percolator must score highly. It is cheap to buy and can often be found at discounted prices whereas the modern coffee maker is highly priced because it is new and offers more gadgetry than the percolator.
The appearance may leave a lot to be desired in the case of the percolators as they are quite simplistic and though the stainless steel body gives them anair of respectability they are not as attractive as their counterparts in the looks department and have a one function capability in comparison to the modern coffee maker which can make normal coffee, espresso and cappucino giving it a clear win in that department.
Where the percolator may score points is in the ease of cleaning. Although the modern machine may have parts that can be put in the dishwasher it has far more moving parts thanthe humble percolator so is more complicated to clean and leaves the percolator a clear winner. This even applies to those people who feel they need to clean their cordless with vinegar tol get rid of any scent of coffee left behind.
Practicality wise the percolator must win hands down. Although a coffee p[ot can be carried into the lounge or dining room if required the cordless type can be used in either room as it is very portable and sits happily on it’s stand whereas the modern version cannot function that way as it is too big and heavy to ever be considered as portable.
The taste produced by both machines make this category more competitive. Tlhe percolator can claim to produce a great taste that is not tainted in any way but the modern coffee maker can point to the fact that it can make an equally good cup of coffee but offers the variety of being able to produce espresso and cappucino at the push of a button which certainly wins that argument clearly.
Both models offer convenience in different ways. The cordless percolator offers the convenience of easy cleaning and potability that the modern one cannot match but the ability of the modern machine to make a variety of flavors makes it more convenient when you hold a dinner party and guests have different tastes.
The price of both models is a major influence to consider when it comes to comparison. The percolator can offer cheap prices and offers the speed that will equal more expensive machines whereas the modern coffee maker can cost over $200 which when compared with the $40-$60 for a percolator is a vast difference and the onus is on the expensive pot to prove itself worth the extra expense.
To me when comparing the productrs the cordless percolator comes out on top for overall value for money but I will continue to use both when circumstances dictate and get the best of both worlds.

Our cheap old coffee maker finally gave up on us so we decided on an electric percolator. We were unsure of exactly what we wanted to buy but because it was such an important appliance in our household we were prepared to spend a fair amount to get the right one. Electric percolators had never been discussed or even considered by me and I am quite sure that my husband had never considered them either.
As a stay at home mom with 2 small children coffee was a part of my daily routine and was constantly in use for my friends and my mom who were regular visitors to our home. When we had people round for dinner we ladies liked to have a coffee after our meal whilst the men may have had something stronger though some did drink coffee too.
My husband came with me to buy our new coffee maker.When we arrived at our local electrical store we were amazed at the number of coffee makers that confronted us and we ealised that perhaps we should have thought more about exactly what we wanted and not just walked in cold with little idea of whether we wanted the latest hi-tec model or the same model as we had now.
After more than a hour of looking at all the different models and brands and getting more frustrated by the minute we decided to go and get a coffee ourselves and talk about what we would buy. Did we want glass? Did we want Cappucino capability? Did we want8cup, 12 cup? We sat and discussed it and eliminated some models as too expensive, some as too complicated and others as too bulky.
When we returned to the electrical department we saw a display of their best percolators. My husband was excited by this display. “It just reminds me of when I was a young lad at home and the percolator would be on the stove� he said and rambled on about the good old days recalling incidents from his childhood and youth. I realised then what a good talking point it was to have such a coffee maker at home and listen to the reactions of friends and family.
I looked at them less avidly than he did but I also recalled my childhood and my mom in the kitchen with the noisy percolator gurgling and hissing and it did create a warm glow in my memory bank. That was the point when we decided that this was what we would buy. I looked at the stainless steel appliance and wondered if it was still as noisy as I remembered. It was the old style model very similar to what we had used at home and could make 12 cups of coffee that was the capacity we were looking for.
They were priced from $40-$80 and we decided that we would buy the one at $80 but I still had some misgivings. I would have liked to buy this and another coffee maker as the salesman pointed out that there were some negative reviews from customers such as the coffee being buned in the process and losing its flavor. It also took a long time to make the coffee and my husband dismissed these drawbacks because he was hooked on the whole nostalgia scenario.
We did buy the electric percolator but the salesman was right about the drawbacks and though it encouraged our friends to reminisce about the past I soon bought a new small coffee maker and together they made the best option.

Night fishing walleye is tougher than fishing them in the daytime. Nothing surprising about that as it’s just harder to see when you’re fishing at night. Don’t let that stop you though. I’ve caught lots more bigger fish just after sunset than I have during the full sun of daytime.

Walleyes are probably the fish most fished for at night, up north. Probably bass or crappies down south. Fall is, to me, the absolute best time for night fishing walleyes. The water has started to cool quite a bit and the prey fish that walleyes feed on have moved in closer to shore in most fishing lakes. The walleyes know winter is coming and go on a feeding spree before the good fishing lakes freeze over.

For night shore fishing walleyes I used live bait about 99% of the time. Casting was just to much guess work when fishing from shore. Considering I was fishing walleyes it was very rocky and snag filled where I fished.

Using any kind of scent to catch fish can be very good for your fishing but it does get confusing with all of the different claims all of the fishing scent manufactures make. Do they all work, aren’t they all pretty much the same?

I’ve tried a couple of dozen different things in that area over the years. Everything from Dr. Juice to WD 40. Even fishing artificial worm scent, grubs and even scented twister tails. While nothing I’m going to tell you here is scientifically proven you will learn what has worked for me while I was fishing and how I tested it.

My grandfather and my father both believed that spitting on their bait helped them catch more fish. Funny but I never believed that as they both smoked, as I do. I let them spit on theirs and I never did and we always all caught about the same amount of fish. To me it didn’t and doesn’t work.

My girlfriend bumped me this really cool product that we have never even heard of. The basic idea is that this is a super bright lumen flashlight that has something like 65 lumens. But it isn’t just a super bright LED flashlight. This flashlight has a clamp designed into it. When you grab the normal shaped handle, you can lock it in a tripod stance or use it as a clamp. I found this very helpful when reading at night. I can clamp the lumen flashlight to my headboard. Very clever product.

Gone fishing – that’s where I usually was. In the fall it was gone to fish for walleyes and northerns. Anything else we caught was an accident. Here another of the tips or techniques for newbies to catch big northerns.

One day my dad heard the northerns were biting on a small, hard to get to, out of the way, little lake that was back in the middle of a cow pasture. The road to the fishing lake was more of a trail and it’s a good thing I had a pickup as my car wouldn’t have made it back in there.

We were the only people there and I picked a spot on a small point where an arm of water that wandered back into the pasture started. It was fall and I figured the northers might be going into the shallows on the arm to bask in the sun and then come back to the deeper water to feed. Fishing is my favorite sport. I suppose I should say fresh water fishing is my favorite outdoors sport as I don’t particularly like ocean fishing. Then again I’m not much on river fishing either. Probably because I learned to fish in freshwater lakes and that’s where I’ve done the bulk of my fishing and thats why these are freshwater fishing tips.

What’s my favorite fish to catch? When I’m fishing whatevers biting becomes my favorite fish. Sure, I start out fishing for walleyes or northerns but if I find the crappies are biting good I’ll switch to crappies. Having a love for catching as well as fishing I go with what’s biting the best.

While I love fishing I stopped eating fish a long time ago. Nowdays I either give all of my fish away or throw them back. Catch and release is good for anglers, good for the fish and makes fishing better. It ensures there will be some fish for the next person who comes along.
