They often believe that a children’s book will be easier to write than one for adults. And often they’re wrong. If you do decide, however, Before you do, there are a few things you should do.

Before you even think about starting to write, take a trip to your local bookstore and spend some hours browsing through the children’s section. Take note especially of books aimed at the age group you are targeting. Look at how many pages they have.

The sizes of the books. The type of fonts they use, how the pictures are positioned on  the pages, the type of artwork, and so on. Before you write your first book for the children’s market, immerse yourself into the market to find what parents are buying for their kids right now.
