Super Bright Lumens Flashlight That Clamps?

Posted by the author on March 9th, 2010

My girlfriend bumped me this really cool product that we have never even heard of. The basic idea is that this is a super bright lumen flashlight that has something like 65 lumens. But it isn’t just a super bright LED flashlight. This flashlight has a clamp designed into it. When you grab the normal shaped handle, you can lock it in a tripod stance or use it as a clamp. I found this very helpful when reading at night. I can clamp the lumen flashlight to my headboard. Very clever product.

Gone fishing, don’t forget your bait boat!

Posted by the author on March 7th, 2010

Carp fishing is ever becoming a popular past time, and the methods of catching the carp is becoming more a more difficult.

A bait boat is a great accessory for any serious carp fisherman as they not only deliver your bait to the same spot every time, but you can drop your bait in places you just could reach with traditional casting.

Yes bait boats can be quite expensive, but there are an investment, and will last for years if you look after them. There are so many boats available on the market it difficult to know which one to choose. There is a great review website here which will help you make the right choice.

However we recommend the procat bait boat, which has been tried and tested for years, they have also recently brought out the new and improved mk2.

If you want a boat with more features, then the waverunner bait boat is a good option.

But whichever boat you choose its sure going to help you improve your catches.

Daiwa Fishing Reels

Posted by the author on January 26th, 2010

When it comes to fishing and parts for your rod, few names stand on top of the quality list like Diawa fishing reels. Diawa has long been noted for quality and excellent craftsmanship, whether it is for fly-fishing equipment or bait casting reel and rod combos. Virtually every big outdoors sporting good store carry the name Diawa, and the company even have a very healthy online ordering site to service all of your fishing needs that may arise.

There are several different types of conventional fishing reels, one of the three major classes of saltwater and freshwater fishing reels, which also include spinning reels and fly reels. Conventional reels when used in saltwater fishing applications are commonly known as star drag, lever drag, high speed, two speed or trolling fishing reels. When used in freshwater fishing, anglers refer to conventional fishing reels as casting, bait cast and bait casting reels. Daiwa fishing tackle has them all.

Northern pike fishing tips

Posted by the author on January 25th, 2010

What’s my favorite fish to catch? When I’m fishing whatevers biting becomes my favorite fish. Sure, I start out fishing for walleyes or northerns but if I find the crappies are biting good I’ll switch to crappies. Having a love for catching as well as fishing I go with what’s biting the best and that’s one of the great fishing tips. Fish for what’s biting..

While I love fishing I stopped eating fish a long time ago. Nowdays I either give all of my fish away or throw them back. Catch and release is good for anglers, good for the fish and makes fishing better. It ensures there will be some fish for the next person who comes along.

Because I’ve caught lots of big fish I love to see the look on peoples faces when I throw back an 8 pound walleye or a 15 pound northern. Some days I take pictures of the fish I caught and other days I don’t. It sort of depends on my mood and how fast the fish are biting. Lol, I don’t much care if people believe me when I tell them what I caught so I don’t need the fish or the pictures of fish as proof that I did catch them.

I’m going to assume you have some knowledge about fishing for northerns but I’ll give a couple of the techniques I use and some tips on what I look for when fishing northerns in the fall.

As far as northern pike fishing lures goes I liked a large red daredevle, a fluorescent orange and gold daredevle, a magnum floating rapala, musky lures like a suick or a musky spinner. Big lures were good lures and still are under the right circumstances. However I will say that he majority of my big northerns have come on bait and not northern pike lures.

I was always hoping to catch a huge trophy northern pike but the biggest I ever caught was just a hair over 17#. Not huge by my standards but damn big for SW MN. I’ve had my picture in the paper so often I lost count and most of the fish were northerns over 8-9#. 4# northerns were pretty common but anything much above that was considered a good fish for the area. Home made carp bait and fishing tackle boxes

Posted by the author on January 20th, 2010

A fishing tackle box is the next most important thing after your rod and reel. I’ve had boat tackle boxes and even some of the biggest tackle boxes. Surprisingly enough, your fishing tackle boxes and accessories will become very personal items and you won’t want anyone rummaging thru your box of Fishing Lures and equipment.

You can’t be successful at most things unless you have the right equipment. When people think of fishing, they automatically think of rods, reels, and bait. However, you cannot underestimate the power of the fishing tackle box because it plays an huge part in the success of your fishing trips.

Many people covet their tackle boxes because they represent a lifetime of trial and error regarding what methods work for which fish. Each lure has a memory or even many memories attached to it.

We all want to save money on that carp fishing essential and making it yourself is a great way to do it as home made carp bait works really well with this recipe. But if you think it is a second-best option remember that the leasers in the bait business all started out in the kitchen and most made their names famous working from their own kitchens so read on and get some very effective bait-making tips!

First you need to throw out preconceptions about baits, recipes, optimum nutritional values of bait and so on. This bait will be quick to make, very easy and simple and catch loads of big fish against competing commercial readymade baits. You can build it up with whatever cheap ingredients you want because this bait is working on just a few very potent natural carp feeding triggers that are outstanding!

Of course you could just get a commercial base mix and bulk that up but that is taking half the fun away and means your bait is not as new or unique as perhaps it could be for great results on a bait that is totally unique to you and you alone!

Where You Going On Holiday

We see advertisements for cheap airline tickets all over the place. They swamp the Internet, television, radio, and newspapers etc for good reason.

Who wants to pay eight hundred dollars for an airline ticket when they can find something similar for half the price or even less.

Cheap airline tickets have become a business all of their own with fare comparison sites, auctions, and bidding sites.

Taking that into consideration, you must admit we are all after some good holiday deals.

Kayak Fishing and Used Boats

Posted by the author on December 30th, 2009

Kayak fishing is simply fishing in a kayak. Its no big deal, you just get into a kayak and head to the fishing grounds. However, it is easier said than done and in recent years, kayak fishing gained a lot of popularity, jumping right out of its 4,000-year history into the 21st century limelight. Originally developed by the indigenous inhabitants of the Arctic regions, these unique boats have undergone major modifications to allow kayak fishers today to enjoy this activity even more fully. Since the same techniques in kayak fishing are more or less the same ones used in other fishing boats, it all boils down to how the equipment on a kayak is set up, how each piece is fitted and how you are going to carry out the whole fishing activity on this little boat.

Contemporary kayaks have made kayak fishing even more appealing by having electronic fish-finders and live-bait containers installed; talk about revolutionizing the kayak fishing industry. The popularity of this form of fishing is also due to the fact that some fish do not require one to be paddling at high speeds to catch them. This allows practically anyone to get a chance to catch a fish. Some popular kayak fishing destinations in the United States include Florida, New Jersey, Texas and Jacksonville where there is even a kayak fishing tournament every May; the largest one in fact. Other locations you may enjoy this activity are Australia, South Africa and Argentina.

Buying used boats could have its advantages but also some disadvantages. There are a lot of specialized site that presents a variety of used boats from which you can choose. You can find them at low prices starting a couple of thousand dollars, depending on the size you wish.

One of the advantages in buying a previous-owned boat is the fact that you could even negotiate the price. Some examples of used boats are: the Homecruiser, priced at 495,000 dollars, ideal for a cruise with your family, the sailing boat Catamaran Imp 45ft By Sun Yachts, priced at 55,0000 dollars, jet skis like Sea Doo Utopia 185 Jet Boat, at $33,500 and so on. All negotiable.

If you are a connoisseur in terms of boats then it will be easy to choose. If not here are some tips in buying used boats. First of all you should know that it’s not like buying a used car.

South Dakota Lake Maps and lake view real estate

Posted by the author on December 10th, 2009

Whether you are looking for a South Dakota vacation house rental, fishing lakes or information on South Dakota tourism or South Dakota lake maps you can find what you need here. If the information you want isn’t here there will be a link to it in the navigation menu on the left.

Lake Preston South Dakota is right in the center of some of the best fishing in the country. Close by are Lake Thompson which is great fishing for walleyes and perch, Lake Henry, which is connect to Thompson when the water is high, for walleyes. Then there is also Whitewood lake which is really great for perch in the winter.

Lake Thompson in South Dakota is one of the premier fishing lakes around and has a very nice state recreation area where you can rent RV and camping spaces. They also have some small cabins for rent.

I thought about buying a lot on the Missouri River because I read many walleye fishing reports for lake for oahe in SD but I really didn’t want to go that far west. Eventually I settled on Lake Thompson between Lake Preston and DeSmet SD. Lake view real estate and right on the lake at a good price.

I wanted to be on a lake that was great for fishing. Particularly for northerns, walleyes and perch. Thompson is a great lake for those and crappies and smallmouth bass.

It’s also a natural lake instead of a reservoir. The water level came up in the 80′s when they had some really wet years. A lot of farmland got flooded so it has lots of structure, stock damns, sunken trees and trees standing in the water.

There are parts of it where you can fish sand, mud, gravel or rocks. It’s a real snag filled lake and most people have the best luck with bottom bouncers. Lol, I even lost a lot of tackle fishing from my dock.

Lake thompson is big too. Somewhere around 17-18000 acres or so. Depends on the water levels. It was so big that one of the first things I did was get a map. I looked at the South Dakota GFP map but it didn’t have enough detail so I got one from the bait shop in Lake Preston.

The best Phuket Villas

Posted by the author on October 20th, 2009

Of course, when I’m visiting Phuket with a girlfriend, I want to stay in the best Phuket property that I can afford so cheaper Thailand real estate just won’t do at all. For a little more money, there are some nice romantic Phuket Villas to choose from. One of my favorites is the Sunset Phuket Villa. Right on the beach and walking distance from the nicest parts of town, the location couldn’t be any better. The villa itself is certainly decent enough, but it is the location that really sells it. Surprisingly, the rates aren’t normally that much more than the properties on the island but the holiday is so much more impressive if you stay in a nice property especially if that property is a Phuket Villa right on the beach.

For an even more luxurious Phuket Villa, there’s the Harbor View Villa and the Villa Phuket. These are both very classy Phuket properties with great locations, beautiful rooms, and good service. Of course, they are more expensive!

Do you sometimes feel like you are just too stressed or bored or overworked or unappreciated? Do you wish you could just escape from your life, or start over again with a new one? Don’t we all?

Everyone needs a break from the toils and responsibilities of their everyday lives. Doctors prescribe vacations all the time to people who are experiencing these types of feelings! Everyone needs a break sometimes! There is one type of activity that I know of that can be done for a relatively short period of time, and can bring such enjoyment and satisfaction that it will leave you refreshed and ready to start back in your old life anew!

Spending time on a boat is a refreshing and renewing experience. Time spent in nature, away from the city and with nothing to do but relax is the perfect solution to the problem of a too busy life.

There are many options for boating. Some people own a boat or know someone who does, and can get on the water when they please. Other people are considering buying one and some people prefer to charter boats for their use only when they will need one.

Whichever option you choose, motor cruisers are equipped to provide you with everything you will need for the getaway of your dreams. You will have accommodation for overnight stays as well everything you will need to enjoy yourself on the sea for days at a time.

When spending a weekend on a motor cruiser you will feel yourself slowly able to relax from the tension that has built up over the days and weeks at work. You will enjoy the close proximity of nature, the sound of the waves under the boat and the wind through your hair. The light ocean spray will refresh you every day.

Nautical Lamps Are Rising In Value

Posted by the author on November 5th, 2008

Ever since I was a little boy, I remember seeing my grandfather’s nautical lamps. His nautical lamps were made out of all kinds of things from around the house and junk that he found on the beach. Sometimes if he saw something he liked in one of those touristy gift shops on the coast, he would buy it. I don’t know how he found them, but he even had a couple of hurricane lamps that came from one of the last sailing schooners before it was decommissioned. As a boy, my imagination went wild every time I would step into his house. I would imagine myself as a gallant pirate, (even though there wasn’t such a thing) a sailor, or even a beach bum. All around you in his house would be reminders of the sea like, fish net, blocks and tackle, souvenirs and of course, the nautical lamps. Some of the ships hardware that he had was authentic, some was imitation. My grandfather didn’t care where something came from. What mattered to him was the atmosphere that he created in his house.

Fishing South Dakota

Posted by the author on January 30th, 2008

Topica Kansas has nothing on South Dakota. Just pick up a copy of the South Dakota Travel Guide and you will see what I mean. There is so much to do I South Dakota, it is unbelievable. I could spend literally months just describing all the things there are to do there. One of my favorite is the fish the Missouri river there. They have a strange way to fish. You take a treble hook and tie it to the end of your line. These fish are big so you really need some strong line to start with along with a sturdy pole, there is no room for ultra light gear here. You don’t need any bait, you just throw your line out as far as you can and you start reeling it back in. What ends up happening is eventually you drag that hook across the back of the fish and you snag it. I think they are called paddle fish and they are huge. There is a limit of one a day per fisherman, but it takes most of a day of casting and reeling to snag one. Plus they are large enough that one will feed the family for more than one meal.
