Multicultural Harmony in a Public Classroom

Posted by the author on December 29th, 2007

In a public school environment, there are often clashes amongst children due to differing personality traits, belief and value systems, and cultural identity. Sadly, there are many issues surrounding the problem with multicultural and racial harmony in the public classroom and this is something that is often left up to the teacher, when searching for a resolution. Quite often the problem stems from a lack of knowledge about another culture and when this is the core problem it is easier for the teacher to introduce ideas about another culture into the classroom. Once children are educated on the differences among various ethnic groups, and culturally oriented societies, the problem that previously existed normally reverses itself.

Shopping For A Cement Bird Bath

Posted by the author on December 29th, 2007

Adding a cement bird bath can be a great way to dress up your garden and can also attract a wide variety of birds.  Bird baths attract different types of birds in greater numbers.  While a bird feeder will attract specific bird species, depending on the food provided, a bird bath attracts a wider variety of species.

You should purchase a cement bird bath that is no deeper than three inches.  Measure the water depth before purchasing a commercially-made bird bath.   If you’ve already purchased a bird bath that is too deep, you can remedy the situation by putting some stones in the bottom. A non-slip bottom in your birdbath will help birds keep their footing while bathing – believe it or not, birds don’t like anything too slippery so give them something they can get a good perch on and they will come back time and time again

If you really want to go the extra mile in attracting birds into your garden with your bird bath you should consider adding a fountain.   The sound of falling or dripping water will really attract wild birds and you will have hours of enjoyment just watching their antics in your water fountain.

Knowing Your Body

Posted by the author on December 29th, 2007

It has been my experience that people know more about their cars than they do about their bodies! We bring our car in for the 3000-mile oil change. Rotate the tires, check all the fluids, and get it “detailed”. We don’t argue with our mechanic when he tells us that we need to spend $300 for a few little adjustments that could turn into major problem if left undone.

When we buy our car we pour over the Owner’s Manual. But, most people have never even glanced at the “Owner’s Manual” for our bodies – an anatomy book. Most people don’t have any idea how a joint moves, what is the mechanism that brings our hand to our shoulder, or turns our heads. We expect it to work flawlessly without ever doing anything to flush away built-up toxins. In fact, most people aren’t even aware that toxins build up, never mind needing to be flushed out.

It amazes me when someone is in pain, barely able to stand up straight or turn his or her head without pain. Yet, when it is suggested that they see a deep muscle therapist to release the strains placed on the bones, their first comment is “does insurance pay for this?” And, when the answer is “no” they just walk away…

What You Should Know Before Changing Your Garage Door

Posted by the author on December 29th, 2007

Thinking of replacing your old garage door? Garage door DIY these days is safe and easy to install. Here is some information to help you.
The speed and the type of power are some factors used in selecting a new garage door. A faster door means a more expensive one, but this feature reduces the waiting time on your driveway. Even though it opens quickly, a door usually closes pretty slow for safety. The power of the motor is important in choosing a door because it has to have enough power to raise the door; a large motor is likely to last longer. Also the quietness of the motor should be another decision factor.
Enhanced security features can be found in a newer generation door that uses random codes. A new random code is generated each time the remote control is used to open the garage door. This security code prevents you from opening another garage and vice versa.  The remote
control may be found in several models with a different number of buttons. A multiple button remote control is the best choice for someone who has several garages. The fixed controller is mounted on the wall either inside or outside, near the garage door and it allows the garage
door to open without a remote controller. The keypad allows to close the door for a specific period of time and it provides enough time to exit the garage without running.

Midland to Armadale Bike Tour

Posted by the author on December 29th, 2007

8 days, Cumulative distance: 512km [map]

the wheatbelt tour

The purpose of this ride was to reach Yealering and come back to Perth by a different route. The original plan of stops was Sawyers Valley – York – Brookton – Yealering, but I found that Sawyers Valley offered no accomodation, so I booked at El Caballo Blanco instead. This raised the possibility of bypassing York and cutting through back roads to Beverley on Day 2. This would make days 3 and 4 easier.

Day 1, Midland – El Caballo Blanco

Tuesday 24 October 1989.

Left Midland rail terminal at 11.20 am with a good tailwind. My contour map showed that the steep part of Greenmount Hill would finish about 8km from Midland. I got to 6.5km without changing to bottom gear, then had to leave the road because of two overwidth trucks, and their escorts, crawling up behind. After that I completed the climb in bottom gear with no trouble. Stopped at Mahogany Creek and again just after Chidlows. Reached El Caballo Blanco at 2 pm. Had rest and swim. I was the only guest staying there. At dinner, waiter Danny Bailey expressed interest in reading a copy of my biketrip report…

Is Laxative Better For Constipation Symptoms?

Posted by the author on December 28th, 2007

Though laxatives is the common form of treatment to avoid constipation still it is not the best way to treat the condition. Although laxatives will stimulate the colon and help eliminate blocked stool, they may be habit forming drugs and debilitate your body to the point that it is no longer able to have normal bowel movement on its own. Laxatives may be useful in relieving short-term problems with constipation while they are not effective when trying to avoid the problem. Of course, aside from laxatives, there are other options available that will help remove blockages such as colon cleanser together with proper diet and exercise. But remember an all natural bowel cleanser is considered better than a product made from harsh chemicals as they may cause side effects such as dehydration.

While there are many women experiencing pre menopause signs and symptoms, there are not many women that actually understand what is happening to their bodies and are not aware that what they are feeling is an early menopause sign. Pre menopause symptoms can happen at almost any age and unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done to avoid this. The rare and delicate beauty of celestite

Posted by the author on December 28th, 2007

Celestite might not be a mineral known to many, but it really has no need for more publicity. The gem grade crystals of celestite are a joy to behold, and it has long been admired for its exquisite beauty. The most valuable celestite crystals are those which are a pale blue in color, which in celestite, is both translucent at the same time.

Celestite is often called celestine as well, and named as such, because the delicate blue inside it often reminded people of heavenly realms. For sure, there are many people who say that their celestite posseses some “magical powers.” You get that impression just by looking at it…

Celestite is beautiful enough to be worn as jewellery, but you have to make sure it doesnt get knocked, because it fractures easily. It works best as a cut gem set deep into a metallic frame, where it doesnt run the risk of getting scratched or knocked. More on crystals at Crystals and Gems site.

Bird Bath Cleaner And Setup Tips

Posted by the author on December 28th, 2007

When choosing a bird bath, you want to be sure to pick one that has a bowl depth of no more than 3 inches and has a surface that is not too slippery.  You need to clean your birdbath with a good bird bath cleaner every so often and be sure to change the water every day in hot weather.

Placing your bird bath on some kind of stand or hanging it from a tree makes it difficult for preditors to reach. Birds must feel save in order to use the bird bath.

Watching birds enjoying your backyard bird bath can be a pleasant pastime for you as well as for the birds. Place your bird bath near a window where you’ll be able to sit comfortably and watch the birds.

If you use the above guidelines for putting a mosaic bird bath  in your garden, you’ll be able to enjoy many pleasant hours watching the different birds it will attract to your garden.

There are several to things to follow on this diet and it is important to know the Atkins diet food list before you begin. This is on really preventive in the first phase, but broadens after just two weeks. Although it is hard, there are many who say that this is very much worth a try.

More and more of the Atkins diet information coming out nowadays and suggest that the diet itself is extremely dangerous for your health. Choose A Natural Menopause Remedies To Help You Enjoy Life

Posted by the author on December 27th, 2007

Every person on earth has a different genetic composition. Some women simply could not find the right combination of synthetic hormones to control their menopausal symptoms. Others do not approve of using chemical remedies for menopause. They feel it is unnatural and unhealthy. They would prefer to choose one of the herbal, natural menopause methods that have been around for centuries as opposed to medical science. Of course there are also the women who have read the studies indicating that HRT use can increase a woman’s chances of breast cancer. Currently these findings are still under review, but choosing natural alternatives carries less risk. As a matter of fact, natural menopause remedies help women to establish a healthy lifestyle and enjoy living with menopause.

Treat Constipation Without Laxative

Posted by the author on December 27th, 2007

A laxative is probably the poorest constipation remedy there is. Aside from having so many negative side effects, it is also addictive. What’s more, prolonged intake can permanently damage your colon. So the best constipation remedy is a natural one.

If you are constipated, the first thing you should change is your diet, of course. But what about a short-term constipation remedy that functions like a laxative? Here are some ideas. If you are increasing fiber consumption as a constipation remedy, you should better increase liquid intake if you want it to work. If your stool has bulk due to fiber but lacks enough liquid content, it may give you problems just the same. Also, avoid sodas and other caffeinated drinks that not only cause constipation but are also highly addictive. If you have a soda craving, drink a cup of hot water instead. A warm/hot cup of water is also a great constipation remedy when taken in the morning. Thus, it is wise to consider a constipation remedy that could relieve your problem safely and effectively.
