Practical Potty Training Tips And Advices

Posted by the author on August 29th, 2007

Potty training is a process that many parents don’t look forward to. It can be a difficult time if not done correctly and with the right attitude. Here are some practical tips for potty training that can make this time much easier for you and your infant. First, you need to keep in mind that you cannot just go by the age of your child. Two and half is the average age, but many toddlers begin earlier and others start later. Every child is different and you will need to determine when they are prepared by their actions. Keep an eye out for signs that indicate they are prepared.

Some of the signs to look for include being aware that they are wet or soiled and wanting clean dry clothing. If they are capable of staying dry for a couple of hours at a time and show an interest in wearing training pants they are probably prepared. Two good signs to look for that will indicate your child is prepared for potty training is an interest in the bathroom and the ability to dress themselves in simple outfits. It makes it much easier when they are able to follow simple instructions as well. This makes it easier for you to explain what they need to do.

The best time to begin potty training your child is in the summer because there is less clothing for them to have to deal with. This makes it easier and less stressful for the child. Usually they have only a few seconds to get to the bathroom before it is too late. Therefore, anything that makes it quicker for them makes it easier as well. All children have a tendency to want to stay dry, so if you allow them to wear training pants that lets them feel the wetness, this can help them to learn when it is time to use the potty.

You will need to begin the potty training process when you have the time to stay with it or you will be wasting your time. You have to be consistent with the training for your child to learn and understand. Patients is a must, fussing at a toddle for accidents will only make things worse and the process harder. They need to be praised for their efforts and this should be a fun time in their life. So if you are pressed for time and in a hurry, then wait until you have the time to be patient with your child.

Finding The Best Location In Your Landscape For Adding A Waterfall

Posted by the author on August 29th, 2007

Location, location, location! It will not only add to your home value, it will determine whether your waterfall landscape will be high or low maintenance. For example, the idea of a beautiful running waterfall under a tree or two might sound good – until fall arrives and you find yourself cleaning many fallen leaves out of your water. Since you will be installing a pump to continue to circulate water through your waterfall, availability of electricity will most certainly be a factor. Since too much direct sunlight can trigger algae growth in your water, finding a shadier spot for your waterfall landscape will save you on water maintenance. With these issues in mind, it is also helpful to remember that your waterfall will create a focal point in your landscaping, so plan for a central location that you will be able to enjoy.

Home Improvements Sell Homes

Posted by the author on August 29th, 2007

Do you remember the old saying “you only get one chance to make a good first impression”? That’s not only true when you meet someone or apply for a job, it’s also true when you are trying to sell your home.

Take note of your home and ask your friend to help. If there’s anything about your front that needs attention, that should be the focus of your first home improvements. It could be a simple as repairing cracks in your driveway or painting the trim around windows and doors. Maybe you need to add some colorful flowers that stand up and contrast with the color of the front of your home. If you impress that potential buyer with the first things they see when they drive up, you are about half way home to impressing them all the way.

Next, swing your front door open and take a really long look at things. That’s the next thing a buyer will see as she comes to preview your home. If you’ve painted your walls with some kind of outlandish paint color that you just love, remember that your buyer may not share your taste or enthusiasm for that color combination.

Consider repainting, at least the first room they’ll see, with an off white color. That will brighten up the room and it is the most universally accepted color for walls, sure not to offend the eyes of your buyer. Carpet, window dressings and furniture arrangement can be other areas of attention but the home improvements you most want to concentrate on are the first impression things. These are what makes a home sell quickly.

Horse Riding Or Racing

Posted by the author on August 28th, 2007

Animal rights groups are right to call Thoroughbred racing cruel. The horses are incredibly inbred (90% can trace their ancestry back to one stallion, The Darley Arabian, born in 1700). An estimated 60% of all Thoroughbreds alive trace back to Northern Dancer, who was born in 1961. The horses in racing cannot support their own weight, let alone that of a rider. They are forced to race before their bones have hardened. After their racing careers are over, they are usually slaughtered. The Blood Horse reported that 1986 Kentucky Derby winner Ferdinand was slaughtered for meat in Japan.
