Do you receive a lot of junk mail? I sure do! But what makes it junk mail?
That’s a subject that we could all talk about at length. But not here. I just want to focus on one issue – mail received that’s addressed to RESIDENT. How impersonal is that? I’m sure that most people, like myself, just toss that mail in the trash without even opening it up. Or if they open it up, they don’t look very far before it gets tossed.
Did you ever stop to think about all the online marketing messages we’re exposed to that are impersonal just like junk mail? Imagine the impact that these messages would have if they were personally addressed to you using your name. For example, streaming video is a one-way communication medium. The server that is sending the streaming video has no idea who is receiving the message. This is another example of impersonal communication.
There is a new internet marketing tool that is database-driven. I can’t go into all the details here. But the database-driven aspect of this very powerful service allows for delivery of webcasts that are personalized in the name of the recipient. That’s powerful!
